2 snatchers arrested in Budgam theft case

SRINAGAR, Dec 9: Police in Budgam today resolved a theft case by apprehending two individuals accused of snatching gold items.
Authorities have reported the recovery of stolen property worth lakhs from their possession.
According to police, on December 7, Police Post Mouchua received a written complaint from Vikas Kumar Pandit, son of the late Ram Lal Pandit and resident of Hindu Mohalla Kralpora Chadoora.
He, as per police, reported that while he was returning home from Chadoora, unknown individuals snatched his gold items valued at Rs. 12.5 lakhs and fled the scene.
In response, a case was registered under FIR No. 253/2023 at Police Station Chadoora, and an investigation was initiated, police stated.
Taking prompt action, a police team led by the Incharge of Police Post Mouchua, through diligent efforts and technical assistance, apprehended the two accused individuals in Pahalgam Anantnag.
Subsequently, all the stolen gold items worth lakhs were recovered from their possession, police said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam-u-din Khan and resident of Baghi-Mehtab Srinagar, and Showkat Ahmad Khan, son of Bilal Ahmad Khan and resident of Baghi-Mehtab Srinagar.
“Further investigation into the case is ongoing,” police added.
