RAJOURI, Dec 5: Amidst allegations of alleged ‘misleading reports’ carried out by the media over roofless polling station in Khawas area of Budhal on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, who is also District Election Officer, today placed two employees of the Rural Development Department under suspension and also withheld the salary of Block Development Officer (BDO) Khawas.
An official spokesman said that DC Rajouri, Aijaz Ahmed taking serious note of the matter after pictures of the roofless polling station at Lambi Keri- Kotcharwal (Khawas) school went viral, initiated preliminary inquiry and rushed two tents and some plastic sheets for the smooth conduct of election at the damaged/ broken school on Tuesday.
He said from the condition of the school and the building allotted as polling centre, it seems that concerned GRS and VLW failed to visit the said polling station before conduct of election and communicate to the senior officers. In view of their failure to perform duty properly, both Village Level Worker (VLW) Yasar Iqbal and GRS (Gram Rozgar Sevak) were placed under suspension. The salary of BDO Khawas Mohd Rafiq Wani has also been stopped with immediate effect. He said BDO and his staff failed to review the infrastructure/ basic facilities at this polling station which falls in cold zone.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer Rajouri directed the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Rajouri to hold an inquiry into the matter and submit a factual report within one week.
