POONCH, July 21: Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik has attached two employees of Social Welfare Department on the allegation of demanding and accepting bribe and also ordered inquiry into the matter.
Attachment order vide number DCP/Gen/308-11 reads that “ a complaint has been received regarding serious allegations of corruption against officials of Tehsil Social Welfare office Poonch and as per her complaint, the applicant uploaded the application on the portal of Social Welfare Department, Poonch on 08-05-2023 under application reference No. JK-SW-MAS/2023/13477 for availing assistance under Marriage Assistance Scheme. The date of marriage mentioned in the application form was 25/06/2023.”
The complainant alleged that her father gave Rs 5000 as corruption and 5 Kg butter to the officials of Tehsil Social Welfare Office Poonch, the applicant intimated the names of officials of Tehsil Social Welfare Office Poonch namely- Anju Rehana, Junior Assistant and Tahir Irfan. MTS, who have demanded and accepted bribe in kind and cash.
The applicant further alleged that she approached the said office time and again but no action on her request for assistance has been taken till date.
“It view of the above, the District Administration attached both the Tehsil Social Welfare Office, Haveli employees in the office of DSWO Poonch with immediate effect for demanding and accepting bribe from the applicant’s father as alleged in the complaint. The salary of the officials will not released till further orders”, the order said.
Mohinder Singh, District Social Welfare Officer, Poonch has been appointed as inquiry officer to conduct the probe and submit report along with recommendations, within a period of 15 days from the date of issuance of this order.
