2 Tempos with fake registration numbers seized; FIRs registered

UDHAMPUR, Mar 23: Two tempos with fake registration numbers were seized by Traffic Police on the National Highway at Jakhani, here today.
Reports said that during naka checking under the supervision of DySP Traffic Himat Singh, a Tempo bearing registration number UP81CT-7983 and without HSRP (high Security Registration Plate) was stopped.
As the Tempo Chassis number and Engine number did not tally with E-Challan details, Traffic Police seized the Tempo, which was being driven by Mohit Sharma, son of Birendra Sharma of Pusta Kartar Nagar, Delhi.
The vehicle UP81CT-7983 was found registered in the name of Delhi Rent Car Services of Vikas Partap Singh, resident of Rohini Delhi, with date of issuing January 31, 2020.
On tallied with E-Challan details, Chassis number engine with vehicle was found registered as UP72AT-3343 in the name of Arvinder Singh, son of Balwinder Singh of Aaspur Devsara, Patti Raniganj, Partap Garh with issuing date March 23, 2018.
Delhi Rent Car Service India Pvt Ltd UG-54 was written on both sides of the Tempo body. During checking, the driver produced photo copies of RC, pollution, insurance certificates and said that the tempo belonged to Delhi Rent Car Service India Pvt Ltd.
Later, an FIR was registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur under relevant section against driver Mohit Sharma and Delhi Rent Car Service India Pvt Ltd.
In a similar case last evening, a Tempo bearing registration number DLIVC- 2217, which was without High Security Registration Plate, was stopped for checking at Jakhani. One Bhupinder Singh, son of Paramjeet Singh of Vishnu Garden, Tilak Nagar West, who was driving the Tempo, could not produce original documents of the vehicle. The Tempo Chassis number and Engine number did not tally with E-Challan details following which it was seized on the spot.
Another FIR was lodged in this connection at Police Station Udhampur under relevant section against driver Bhupinder Singh and Ravinder Aggarwal son of Lakshaman Das Aggarwal, owner of the vehicle.
It may be recalled that on February 21, Traffic police had seized a Mahindra Scorpio with fake registration number, driven by a BJP Corporator from Kashmir.
