2 theft cases solved; stolen property recovered

REASI, Apr 23: Reasi Police solved two cases of theft that had taken place recently at Mari and Gran Morh.
Besides arresting the three accused persons, Police has also recovered the stolen property, informed SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, here today.
FIR number 92/2022 and FIR number 94/2022, under section 379 IPC were registered at Police Station Reasi after getting complaints of theft from Mari and Gran Morh area of Reasi.
On directions of the SSP, multiple teams of Police Station Reasi were constituted to work out these theft cases. Police teams scanned CCTV footage from the areas and rounded up a number of suspects.
During interrogation, two suspects namely Sohit Langeh son of Govind Ram of Gran Morh and Sumit Kumar son of Rattan Lal of Gran Morh Reasi confessed the crime. They further told the Police that they sold stolen items to one Surjeet Singh son of Mani Ram of Jhandi Thakrakote, who was also apprehended. On his disclosure, one gas Cylinder, two Bhattis, two ceiling fans, cooking appliances, oil can and blankets were recovered.
Further investigations to unearth linkages of the arrested accused with other theft cases of district Reasi was going on.
Sharing this information, SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta suggested the people of Reasi, Katra and other towns to make use of technology and install CCTV cameras in the premises of their business establishments for surveillance on criminal elements in the society.
