2 thefts in City, cash, other items stolen

POONCH, Sept 18: In two theft incidents in Poonch City last night, some cash and other items were stolen.
Official sources said that thefts were reported in Sheesh Mehal and Aalapir Chowk in Poonch city during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The thieves decamped with lakhs of rupees and other house hold items from the two houses.
House owners were identified as Nazia Akhter, wife of Mohd Maroof, resident of Mohra Surankote, at present Aalapir, Poonch and Zaitoon Bi, wife of Mohd Safeer, resident of Ward No. 13 Sheesh Mehal, Poonch.
Officials said that as per one family, Rs 6.76 lakh cash, 4 ATM cards and other documents were stolen, while the theft items of the other family are yet to be ascertained as the owner of house is out of station. No member from both the families was in the house during last night. One family had gone to the village while another in a marriage ceremony.
Station House Officer Poonch, Ranjit Rao said that two different cases, vide FIR number 198/199/2022 have been registered in this connection and investigation taken up.
