2 thefts reported in Thanamandi

RAJOURI, Dec 24: Two incidents of theft have been reported in Thanamandi town of district Rajouri today.
Official sources said that some unknown burglars barged into the house of government teacher, Shakeel Ahmed at Thannamandi town during last night and decamped with nearly 9 Tola gold and Rs 50,000 cash. The family had gone to their ancestral house at a village to mourn the death of a close relative.
Shakeel came to know about the theft in the morning and rushed back to Thanamandi town. Later, he informed local police about the matter. The Police launched investigation.
Another theft took place in the town during the broad day light in the rented house of two carpenters, Mohd Arif and Subhan Malik, hailing from Moradabad in UP and presently residing near their workshop in Thanamandi town. They had gone to the nearby mosque for offering Friday prayer during the day when somebody broke opened the door of their common room and decamped with Rs 85,000 cash. They had planned to move back to their home in Moradabad tomorrow.
The police registered a case and started investigation. The local residents have expressed serious concern over increasing number of thefts in the area and alleged that due to poor policing this all is happening.
