2 women injured in bear attack

UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: Two women were attacked by a bear at village Meer in Panchari area of District Udhampur.
The victims were returning home after grazing the domestic animal in forest area when a bear suddenly appeared and attacked the women who were seriously injured in the attack.
Later, some villagers shifted the injured women to local PHC where doctors referred them to District Hospital Udhampur.
The injured were identified as Sushma Devi, wife of Raj Singh and Sawitra Devi, wife of Rasal Singh, both residents of village Meer.
According to the locals, a number of such incidents of bear and leopard attacks have been witnessed in the areas during the last three months but no action has been taken despite repeated pleas to the Wildlife Department.
