RAJOURI, Oct 1: An elderly woman and her middle-aged daughter, were washed away in a flooded Nallah in Chityar-Chingus area of district Rajouri late last evening.

The deceased have been identified as Gulzar Begum (60), wife of Mohd Akbar and her 38-year-old daughter Maqsooda Begum. They were working in the fields when heavy rain started in the area. They waited there under a tree for some time and then moved towards their house. While crossing Nallah, they were trapped in flash flood and washed away.
The family members, local villagers and police launched search operation after coming to know about the tragedy. The dead body of Gulzar Begum was recovered from Manawar Tawi river near a bridge, down stream during noon. However, the body of Maqsooda could not be traced till late this evening. The search operation was still on.
