Srinagar, May 4 A 2-year-old boy and an ATM guard were among 24 people who tested positive for the COVID-19 in Kashmir today taking tally of the Corona infected people in Jammu and Kashmir to 726.
Medical Superintendent of SKIMS Soura hospital, Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan, said that 20 out of 775 samples, processed at Viral Diagnostic Lab of the hospital, tested positive for the COVID-19 and they include 12 from Baramulla, four from Budgam and two each from Shopian and Bandipora districts.
The Nodal Officer at the Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Salim Khan said that four persons tested positive at GMC Srinagar COVID-19 laboratory today. He added that 337 tests were conducted today and 188 are under process. Click here to watch video
The four who tested positive at GMC lab include 17-year-old girl and her 39-year-old mother from Wandroo Mohalla in Rainawari Srinagar besides 47-year-old man from Reshipora Pulwama and teenager from Surankote Poonch, attendant of a patient admitted to Super Speciality Hospital Shireenbagh here.
Those who tested positive in Baramulla district are from two families, one comprising of seven members including 39-year-old ATM guard, his wife, two sons, daughter-in-law and two brothers from Sheerbagh Kanlibagh area while other is from Hardchillo Tangmarg including 8-year-old girl, 50-year-old man and his 22-year-old son besides two men aged 32 and 40 years.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo said that the ATM guard at Gulnarpark and his entire family wwere already under quarantine while contact tracing has been started.
Four persons who tested positive in Budgam, include 24-year-old man from Haproo Nagam while three others are 11 year old boy, 24-year-old and 35-year-old men are from Chrar-e-Sharief. They are all contacts of previous COVID-19 patients.
Two men aged 21 and 23 years from Heerpora, one of the most affected areas in the Southern Kashmir Shopian, district tested positive.
A 2-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man from Naid Khai, both contacts of previous COVID-19 patients also tested positive today.
With these fresh cases, Bandipora has 130 positive cases followed by Srinagar and Anantnag 109 cases each, Baramulla 103, Shopian 83, Kupwara 66, Budgam 30, Ganderbal 14, Kulgam 11 and Pulwama 9.
Today 16 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals and include six from Bandipora and five each from Srinagar and Baramulla.
There are now 726 COVID-19 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir- 415 are active positive, 303 have recovered and eight died. In Kashmir, there are 664 Corona positive cases.
An 80 year old woman from Gund Jahangir village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district was discharged from the hospital after recovering from COVID-19 infection. The woman was admitted to the hospital in serious condition. She was suffering from pneumonia and acute respiratory disorder.
Principal SKIMS, Bemina Dr Reyaz Untoo said that today 12 persons including the woman who were hospitalized, after testing positive for Coronavirus last month, were discharged.
He said that 12 COVID-19 patients were discharged after successful treatment in the hospital. He said 3 patients among these 12 are non-locals. He added that 89 patients have been discharged from SKIMS Bemina so for.
Till date 77656 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which includes 11850 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 182 in Hospital Quarantine, 415 in hospital isolation and 7232 under home surveillance. Besides, 57969 persons have completed their surveillance period.
