SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Convicting then Joint Director (Adm) in Directorate of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department, Kashmir, Mohd Ashraf Wani, who was caught red handed while accepting bribe, the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar today sentenced the guilty Public Servant to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
The conviction was passed in case FIR No. 21/2011 P/S VOK, which was pending adjudication before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar. The accused public servant has been
Judge Yash Paul Bourney found the accused guilty under Section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) of PC Act and was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years. The convict also has to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment for offence punishable under Sec. 161 RPC and both the sentences shall run concurrently.
The accused public servant was caught red handed on 24-11-2011 while demanding and accepting an amount of Rs 10,000/- as illegal gratification from one Bashir Ahmad Koul (complainant) , the then Storekeeper in CAPD Department, Ganderbal, for making his posting.
