UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Udhampur Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 20 animals besides arresting two smugglers.
Based on a reliable information regarding illegal transportation of bovine animals, police party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Inspector Sanjeev Gupta, laid a naka at Jakhani NHW and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AB-8179, which was on way from Jammu towards Kashmir.
During thorough search of the truck, 12 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in this vehicle in very cruel manner. The accused bovine smuggler namely Ashraf Naik son of Badar Naik of Gudiyan was arrested on the spot. All bovine animals were rescued and vehicle was also seized. .
In this regard, a case FIR No. 493/2017 U/S 188/RPC, 3 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, in another success, police parties of Police Post Tikri, led by SI Sanjeet Sharma and PS Rehmbal, led by SHO, Insp Sanjeev Chib, intercepted two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration number JK02BU- 4542 and other without registration number. During the search of said vehicles, eight bovine animals were found illegally loaded in these vehicles. Driver of one of the vehicles, namely Abdul Rashid son of Abdul Gani of Maitra, was arrested on the spot while driver of second vehicle managed to flee. All the bovine animals were rescued and both the vehicles were also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 170/2017 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
