20 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, July 23: Udhampur Police today rescued 20 bovine animals while foiling smuggling bids in Tikri area and arrested two smugglers.
Reports said that during a naka by police party of PP Tikri, headed by SHO Rehambal, Inspector Rajesh Sharma and assisted by PSI Abdul Satar, one group of bovines enrooted from Tikri towards Kashmir side was noticed
On thorough checking, it was found that the bovines, numbering 12, were being taken by foot without any legal permission. Police rescued the animals and arrested the smuggler, identified as Mohd. Mushtaq, son of Saif Ali of Chak Wizru. The naka was established on the directions of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Udhampur Sahil Mahajan.
In another success, same police party rescued eight more bovines which were found loaded in a vehicle bearing registration number JK14 H- 1272. Police rescued the animals and arrested the driver, identified as Mohd Saleem, son of Mohd Rashid of Jaganoo.
Two FIRs were registered in this connection at Police Station Rehambal.
