Srinagar, Apr 24: A woman and her three minor daughters were among 20 people who tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir today, taking the number of infected people in Jammu and Kashmir to 454.
All these people tested positive at Viral Diagnostic Lab of SKIMS Soura and nine of them are from Bandipora, five from Shopian, four from Kupwara and two from Baramulla districts.
Dr Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura said that 395 samples were tested today and 20 were positive while rest of them negative for the pathogen.
The Nodal Officer at GMC Srinagar Dr Mohammad Saleem Khan said that 145 samples were processed in the GMC lab today and all tested negative. He said 96 more samples are under process and 360 fresh samples were received at the laboratory today.
The nine form Banidpora belong to two families of Gund Kaiser. They include six women-aged 19, 20, 21, 25, 27, and 70-besides two men-65-year-old and 80-years-old. They belonged to two families and are contacts of previous patients. In Bandipora which is the worst hit district in Kashmir, contact tracing is on massive scale and 132 samples were collected today including 86 in Sumbal and 46 from Bandipora area.
Five more cases were reported from Shopian district-three from worst hit Heerpora village and two from Beminipora village.
The fresh cases at Heerpora include a 5-year-old boy, a 21-year-old woman, and a 60-year-old man. The village has now 45 COVID-19 positive cases. The two cases in Beminipora village includes an 8-year-old boy and a 45-year-old woman.
Kupwara district reported four fresh cases and includes the 40-year-old wife of a policeman posted in Srinagar, and their three daughters-aged 9, 12, and 16-of Muqam-e-Shahwali area.
Two cases in Baramulla are from Solinda Tangmarg which include 21-year-old man and 13-year-old girl, both contacts of previous patients.
And today 17 corona patients were discharged from hospitals. They include five from Shopian, 4 from SKIMS and 8 from GMC Baramulla.
Bandipora has now 108 COVID-19 positive cases, highest in Kashmir, followed by 79 in Srinagar, 60 Shopian, 52 in Baramulla, 45 in Kupwara , 14 from Ganderbal, 14 in Budgam, 15 from Anantnag, 6 from Kulgam and 3 from Pulwama.
The corona positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir have gone upto 454 out of which 340 are active cases-39 in Jammu and 301 in Kashmir. Five persons have died so far while 109 others-17 in Jammu and 92 in Valley- have recovered.
And 65722 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which includes 6162 persons in-home quarantine and administrative quarantine, 340 are in Hospital Isolation, 260 in hospital Quarantine and 11970 under home surveillance. Besides, 46985 persons have completed their surveillance period.
And the lockdown across Kashmir continued for the 37th day today with authorities acting tough against the violators of Government orders issued to prevent spread of Coronavirus.
Police and paramilitary troopers were deployed on roads and they had erected concertina wire to block the roads to prevent movement of people and vehicles.
Authorities today detained a person for allegedly making fake movement passes by forging the signatures of issuing authority in Sopore area of Baramulla district.
Following the directions by District Magistrate Baramulla, Police has detained Riyaz Ahmad Dar of Kralteng Sopore and seized his car.
Dar, according to the officer was involved in scanning the original movement pass and has subsequently fudged the signatures of issuing authority.
The District Magistrate has recommended Superintendent of Police for registering an FIR and also conduct a full- fledged enquiry into the matter so that all the persons involved in this illegal practice are booked under law.
An FIR under number 42/2020 under relevant Sections of the law has been registered and further probe, in this case, is going on.
