MENDHAR, July 29: The police seized nearly 200 liters of diesel from the possession of a Tata Mobile driver and arrested him when he was coming from Sagra- Balnoi area to Mendhar late this evening.
Acting on a specific information, SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim and SHO Anzir Mir laid a nakka on Sagra-Mendhar road and intercepted vehicle No. JK-12/9522 this evening. They found a barrel diesel loaded in the vehicle. It was moving towards Mendhar town. The barrel belonged to Ist Maratha unit located in Balnoi-Sagra area.
The police arrested the driver and seized vehicle along with Army supply diesel. The driver and vehicle were brought to Police Station at Mendhar. During interrogation, the driver Mumtaz Ahmed, resident of Darana told police that he brought this diesel from Sagra area from the Army drivers of Ist Maratha unit. Mumtaz further said that he used to purchase fuel from army men at cheap rates and sell to other vehicle drivers at high rates and also fill his own vehicle’s tank with this.
The police registered a case FIR No. 91/2015 and started investigation. The SDPO said that he has communicated the matter to the Commanding Officer of the said unit. The other accused area yet to be arrested.
