UDHAMPUR, Oct 23: In a major success, police today arrested an inter-state drug smuggler and recovered heroin worth more than Rs 100 crores in international market.

The consignment of heroin, weighing 21.5 kg, was being smuggled in a Punjab bound truck, which was on way from Kashmir and intercepted by Chenani Police at Zero Morh on the National Highway, early this morning.
While sharing this information, SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar said that during vehicle checking at Zero Point Chenani, a truck (PB08BT-9403) coming from Kashmir towards Udhampur was intercepted and 18 packets of heroin weighing around 21.5 kg were recovered from it.
Police seized the recovered heroin as well as the truck besides arresting the driver, who was identified as Kulwinder Singh, resident of Nawanshahr in Punjab. A case under relevant Sections was registered in this connection and further investigation has been started to unearth all the backward and forward links in the case.
The police patrolling team that intercepted the truck, was led by SHO Chenani, Inspector S D Singh, under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi.
This was one of the biggest hauls of narcotics in Jammu Kashmir and further investigation into the case may lead to more arrests of the persons involved in the smuggling racket.
