MENDHAR, Jan 27: The police has booked 21 persons for grabbing land meant for sports stadium near Mendhar town in district Poonch.
Official sources said that on the basis of public complaints, the SDM Mendhar, Thakur Sher Singh directed the Tehsildar Mendhar, Salam Din to lodge an FIR against the persons who have grabbed State land and raised illegal structures at Khasra No. 689 of Bera village. 250 kanal State land had been approved by the District Administration for the construction of sports stadium about two years back. But no much progress was witnessed on it. With the passage of time about score of families including a local politician has raised structures on the said land in connivance with some field Revenue officials.
Upon this, the Police registered a case FIR No. 9/ 2016 against 21 accused persons on the complaint of Tehsildar Mendhar. The SDM has directed to dislodge all the land grabbers and get the Govt land vacated.
