JAMMU, Sept 18: Twenty one persons were injured three of them seriously when a mini-bus rolled down near a small bridge on Rajouri-Kotranka road this evening.
The mishap took place at around 5.40 pm when the vehicle bearing registration No. JK-11/ 3037 was on its way to Rajouri from Kotranka side. A total 22 persons were onboard including driver, who jumped away and escaped from the spot.
A police spokesman said that bus was over speeding and when it reached between Nagrota and Khandli bridge, the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve, leading to small bridge and the vehicle rolled down. Immediately after the mishap, the police party from Rajouri led by SHO Yash Paul Jamwal rushed the spot. Ambulances from hospital were also sent. The locals of the area were first to reach there and they started rescue operation.
All the injured were shifted to hospital even in private vehicles as well. Total 21 persons were injured and the condition of three of them was said to be serious as they had received some head injuries. Later, Additional DC Salim Malik visited the hospital and asked the doctors to provide every possible help to the victims. The police also registered a case against the driver for negligent driving.
The injured were identified as Abdul Ghnai (27), resident of Sonikote, Rattan Singh (35) from Swari, Sajjad Ahmed (25) from Charhaan, Mohd Riaz (30) from Rehan, Abdul Haq (34) from Falwala, Abdul Qayoom (21) from Mandar Galla, Mohd Aslam (46) from Swari, Mohd Razak (30) from Falwala, Parveen Akhtar (42) from Kandi, Kulbir Singh (22) from Kalakote, Nafaar Hussain ( 30) from Swari, Kalbir Singh-II (26) from Sakri, Mohd Qadeer (30) from Falwala, Basharat Hussain (29) from Nagrota, Mohd Sakhi ( 32) from Ladyal, Maqsooda Begum (40) from Kandi, Shezana Begum (11) from Kandi, Tasveer Begum (32) from Sakri, Zaffar Hussain ( 28) from Chowkian, Sushil Prakash (31) from Dhar Sakri and Basu Shah (27) from Budhal.
