KATHUA, July 3: Twenty one people were injured, some of them serious in separate road mishaps in Kathua and Billawar town, this afternoon.
According to a police spokesperson, one matador bearing Regd. number JK08D-4958 and gas tanker bearing Regd. number HR55M-9168 collided with each other when the former was overtaking the other, resulting in injuries to 17 persons, at Jammu-Kathua Road at Barwal.
On getting the information, police reached the spot, started the rescue operation and shifted the injured to District Hospital Kathua. 13 injured were treated in the district hospital, while four were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, for specialised treatment and where they are responding well to the treatment.
Most of the injured were discharged after treatment in Kathua Hospital, while few were responding to the treatment when last reports came in. Drivers of both the vehicles fled from the spot. A hunt is on to trace them by the Kathua Police.
Meanwhile, in another mishap in Billawar near Gura Kalyal, four persons were injured when a vehicle turned turtle when it was on way to Billawar to Salana. The injured were shifted to Billawar sub-District Hospital by a rescue team from Billawar. The injured have been identified as Asha Rani (60) wife of Jawhar Lal resident of Kalibari, Satya Devi (55) wife of Mulkh Raj resident of Khorate, Niranjan Bala wife of Sat Pal resident of Dinanagar and Gulshan Kumar son of Jawahar Lal of Kalibari
In both the cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance.
