SAMBA, Oct 7: District Level Task Force Committee meeting under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) was held under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda.
In the meeting, 21 project proposals for establishment of employment generating units viz manufacturing of cement tiles/bricks/posts/garments, repairing suitcases, steel fabrication and boutique, shuttering, dhaba etc having project cost of Rs 2.37 crore were cleared.
The meeting was attended by Krishan Lal, GM District Industries Centre Samba, Rajesh Sharma, Director SBI RSETI/LDM, District Manager SC/ST/OBC Corp, District Officer KVIC/KVIB, EO Municipality Samba.
Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda inaugurated a Road Safety Awareness Programme organised by Motor Vehicle Department in collaboration with Adarsh Vidya Peeth Higher Secondary School Samba.
On this occasion, SSP Samba Joginder Singh, ARTO Samba Kuldeep Singh, Principal Adarsh VidyaPeeth Sh Anupam Sambyal and 400 students were present.
A symposium was organised in which students from various classes participated and highlighted the importance of safe driving, and do’s and don’ts while driving and crossing roads. An open house Question and Answer session was organised, in which students put forth their queries. Also, various films regarding Road Safety for drivers/ pedestrians, causes of road accidents and precautions regarding boarding, deboarding, blind spots, danger zone of school bus were shown to children.
The DDC stressed on the need for preventive measures and self discipline for an individual, before waiting for any mishap to occur. She also said that it was time for all of us to avoid the tendency of breaking rules and an individual should not assume pride in it. She appreciated the campaign and directed ARTO Samba to launch similar programmes in schools across Samba.
