22 bovine animals rescued, 5 smugglers held

POONCH, Nov 3: Foiling a bid of smuggling bovine animals to Kashmir valley via Mughal Road, Surankote Police today rescued 20 animals and also arrested five smugglers.
Acting on specific information, a Police party, led by SDPO Surankote, DySP Ajay Sharma laid a naka and intercepted five vehicles, in which the bovine animals were being smuggled to Shopian.  Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicles besides arresting their drivers whose identity was established as  Pervez Ahmed of  Golad, Mohd Rafi of  Chandimarg,  Shabir Ahmad and Cribba of  Saila.
They were smuggling the animals to Shopian taking the benefit of Police preoccupation with Muharram arrangements but could not escape the vigilant eye of Poonch Police, headed by SSP J S Johar.
