Udhampur, Nov 9: Continuing its war against the menace of drugs, Udhampur Police today recovered 22 kg of contraband poppy straw from a vehicle at Jakhani naka on the NHW Udhampur.
Police team from Police Station Udhampur at motor vehicle checking point in Jakhani Chowk, recovered 22 kg of poppy staw packed in three plastic bags, this poppy straw was kept in a Swift Dzire, bearing registration number JK14E- 1786, which was intercepted by a Police team. Driver of the car, identified as Reaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi of Rathian, Udhampur was arrested on the spot while the recovered poppy straw was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR number 467/2022, under section 8/15, NDPS Act has been registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
The Police naka party was headed by SHO Udhampur, Insp Raghubir Singh under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and DySP Hqrs Udhampur Sahil Mahajan.
