JAMMU, Aug 17: Twenty two more persons from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan including three Pujaris, four police personnel and rest Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) staff including security men and Attendants, one Block Development Officer (BDO), five members of a family from Rehari Colony, seven CRPF personnel deployed in their battalion stationed at Smailpur in Samba, three from the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu including an Orthopedics Department doctor and two X-Ray Technicians, eight CRPF personnel from Bantalab and two more employees of Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) Kathua were among 98 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 while 89 Corona patients were treated for the virus and discharged from various hospitals in the Jammu region today.
A total of 22 persons reported positive for Coronavirus today from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Bhawan including three `Pujaris’, seven `Sahayaks’ (security personnel) and five officials of the Shrine Board, three of them Attendants, four police personnel including an ASI, one Head constable and two SPOs, one of them a woman. All of them were tested for the virus after nearly 20 persons from the Bhawan including Pujaris, their family members and Shrine Board officials including security staff had reported positive for COVID-19 earlier.
The Shrine Board has converted one of its Bhawans as COVID Care Facility where all infected persons have been lodged while more persons have been sampled for testing for the virus.
In the meantime, pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine continued for second day but hardly 200 persons left for the Bhawan for darshan. By 5 pm today, 154 persons had left Katra, the base camp of the shrine, for Bhawan including 94 from Jammu and Kashmir and 60 from outside the Union Territory.
Apart from 22 persons at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, two others tested positive in Reasi district including another employee of Jammu and Kashmir Bank posted at Arnas and a 37-year-old man from Kouri Kanthan, who had travel history of Kashmir.
Six fresh Corona cases were today reported from Doda district including a BDO posted in Gandoh. The BDO was tested during random sampling by the Health Department.
An SSB jawan, three contacts of positive persons from Gandoh and a traveler also tested positive in Doda district.
Jammu district recorded 45 fresh COVID cases today, 30 with no travel history.
Eight CRPF personnel from Bantalab were among the positives of Jammu district.
A Post Graduate doctor from Orthopedics Department of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and two X-Ray technicians reported positive for the virus, GMC Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
Five members of a family from Rehari Colony including two women tested positive for the virus tonight.
Other positives of Jammu district include 39-year-old woman from Belicharana, 38-year-old man from Bahu Fort, 36-year-old from Talab Tillo, 45-year-old woman from Dogra Hall, 26-year-old youth from Akhnoor, 30-year-old from Paloura and 35-year-old woman from Nanak Nagar.
Eleven persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Kathua district.
They include two more employees of Chenab Textile Mills (CTM) in Kathua and a man from village Mela in Hiranagar. Five travelers and three contacts of positive persons also tested positive in Kathua, Deputy Commissioner OP Bhagat said.
Of 10 persons who turned Corona positive in Samba district today, seven were CRPF personnel from their battalion stationed at Smailpur, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak said. Four jawans belonged to West Bengal and one each to Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.
An Army soldier from Uttarakhand a Special Bureau employee hailing from Bari Brahamana and posted in Himachal Pradesh and an employee of Surya Petrol Pump Vijaypur were among the other positives of Samba district.
Two travelers tested positive in Rajouri and one in Poonch district while three districts-Udhampur, Ramban and Kishtwar didn’t report any Corona cases today.
On the other, 89 Corona patients were today treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals of Jammu region, the highest being 46 in Jammu district.
Thirteen persons were discharged in Rajouri district, nine Samba, six Kathua, five Kishtwar, four Doda and two each in Udhampur, Poonch and Reasi districts.
As per the official figures, Jammu region now has 6458 Corona cases while only 1586 of them are active as 4831 persons have been treated and discharged from hospitals while there have been 41 casualties.
Meanwhile, 18 more persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh including 12 in Leh district and six in Kargil.
With this, Corona tally of Ladakh has gone up to 1966—955 in Leh and 1011 in Kargil while there were 584 active cases-350 in Leh and 234 in Kargil as 1368 persons have been treated. There have been 14 Corona casualties in Ladakh.
Of total positives in Ladakh, 45 were admitted in COVID hospitals, 262 were in home isolation, 118 in COVID Care Centres and 142 in Facility Isolation.
