22 PHE pipes seized by police in Surankote, Govt orders probe

POONCH, Oct 13: Commissioner /Secretary, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Farooq Ahmad Shah ordered an inquiry into the alleged sale of departmental pipes by officials at Surankote area of Poonch after police seized 22 pipes from a private premises.
SDPO Surankote, Mohd Reyaz said that 22 pipes of 2.5 inch diameter have been recovered during raid at a private premises / shop and a case has been registered in this connection. He said that pipes were said to be sold by some PHE employees in Surankote area and investigation has been started.
Meanwhile after coming to know about the matter, the Commissioner secretary PHE, I&FC Farooq Shah today ordered probe into the matter . “I have asked Chief Engineer Jammu to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident and place accused immediately under suspension,” Shah said.
Those found guilty will not be spared. “They would be charge sheeted and we will not hesitate to dismiss the official involved in it,” Shah added.
SDPO said that investigations would reveal the involvement of the officials and those found guilty will face action as per the law. “A case FIR No. 242/2018 under section 409, 109 RPC has been registered and further investigation was taken up,” he said.
The sources revealed that most of the pipes were recovered from the premises of a Range Officer posted in Poonch area for which a Departmental inquiry has already been initiated by Conservator of Forests, West Circle.
