22 transformers damaged due to snowfall in Bani, only 8 replaced

JAMMU, Mar 28: Out of 22 transformers damaged due to snowfall in Bani area in the month of January this year, only eight have been replaced till date thereby causing inconvenience to the people of this remote belt of the State.
While replying to the calling attention notice of Master Lal Chand in the Legislative Assembly, Minister of State for Power, Vikar Rasool said, “22 transformers got damaged due to snow fall and rains in the months of January and February this year and eight have been replaced till date”.
About the reason behind delay in replacing other damaged transformers, he said, “transformers of 25 KVA capacity are presently not available with the division as buffer stock of the same has already been exhausted for replacement of transformers installed under RGGVY”, adding “the spare damaged transformers cannot be repaired in the divisional workshop being of shell type design”.
He said that directions have been given to the concerned divisions to carry the damaged transformers from the site and return the same in the divisional workshop so that these transformers could be repaired and replaced immediately.
