KISHTWAR Nov 20: The officials of Forest department assisted by Forest Protection Force staff, removed encroachment on nearly 226 kanals of forest land in Kishtwar and Marwah Forest Divisions of district Kishtwar.
Officials sources said that Forest officials team led by Range Officer Paddar, under the supervision of DFO Kishtwar Sunil Singh and CF Chenab Circle, organised operation in Compartment No. 16 A Paddar and removed old encroachment on nearly 186 kanals of land near villages Muthal Gandhari and Chug- Gandhari. This area was retrieved back from nearly 40 encroachers.
The sources said that since April 2015, nearly 977.26 kanals of forest land has been retrieved in Kishtwar Forest Division till date.
Another report from Marwah said that nearly 40 kanals of forest land has been cleared from the possession of the land grabbers in Compartment No. 86/M near village Qaderna. The staff burnt the brushwood fencing and cleared the entire area. A few structures raised by the locals were also removed.
Entire operation was launched by DFO Marwah, Vijay Kumar under the supervision of Conservator of Forests Chenab Circle, Doda MP Dogra.
