23 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 19: Udhampur Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 23 number of cattle, which were being smuggled by the accused but intercepted near Tikri National Highway.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that acting on a specific information, a police party of PP Tikri, led by Virender Gupta, SHO PS Rehambal and assisted by SI Jasvinder Choudhary, IC PP Tikri, laid a naka near Mand Patha, Tikri, National Highway and intercepted a group of 23 bovine animals, which was being taken on foot by the smugglers towards Kashmir without any valid permission.
All 23 bovine animals were rescued and the alleged smugglers namely Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Siraj Din of Ramban A/P Kathua and Rehemoo, son of Kallu of Akhnoor, were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, case under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
