RAJOURI, May 6: Police while foiling several bovine smuggling bids in Thanamandi area of Rajouri seized five vehicles, arrested five smugglers/drivers and rescued 23 bovines during last night.
Official sources said that police teams from Thanamandi Police Station, headed by SHO Shoket Amin under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed during naka intercepted five Tata Mobile vehicles which were found loaded with 23 bovine animals and were on way from Rajouri towards Bufliaz on Mughal Road leading to Kashmir.
All the vehicles were seized and its drivers arrested. Case FIRs No. 61/2022, 62/ 2022, 63/2022, 64/2022 and 65/2022 U/Ss 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act have been registered in local police station.
The seized vehicles include, Tata Mobiles No. JK20B- 4096, JK11E- 5784, JK11E -7169, JK11D- 6914 and JK11D- 0219.
The drivers of the vehicles who have been arrested in the action are identified as Mohd Rafiq, son of Fakir Mohd, resident of Kunderdan in Reasi; Mohd Altaf, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Dandote in Kotranka; Mohd Mushtaq, son of Qamar Din, resident of Dandote in Kotranka; Mohd Ishtyaq, son of Abdul Gafoor, resident of Dandote and Zarayat Hussain, son of Ali Sher, resident of Dandote in Kotranka.
