23 fresh dengue cases reported

Jammu, Nov 16: Twenty-three more patients have been found positive for dengue, bringing the total number of dengue cases this year to 6,151 across the Union Territory.
In Jammu district, 10 new cases were recorded yesterday, raising its total to 3,728. According to Health officials, over 90% of these cases originate from municipal areas, highlighting the urban spread of the vector-borne disease. Besides Jammu, 10 cases have been reported from Samba and 1 each from Kathua, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts.
Following Jammu, Samba district has reported 646 cases till date, Kathua 593, Udhampur 322, Reasi 287, Rajouri 185, Doda 169, Poonch 69, Ramban 69, and Kishtwar 21. Additionally, 22 cases have been recorded from the Kashmir region, along with 40 local cases reported from other States and Union Territories.
So far, 32,054 patients have been tested for dengue in 2024, with 6,151 testing positive. Despite the rising number of cases, health officials have reported only one death attributed to the disease, indicating effective management of severe cases. Of the 23 cases reported yesterday, 20 were adults (10 males and 10 females), and 3 were children (all males).
Currently, 493 patients have been hospitalized due to dengue complications; of these, 403 have recovered and been discharged, while 78 remain under treatment across various hospitals in the Union Territory.
