JAMMU, Dec 26: Police today arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued twenty-four milch animals from their possession.
Police spokesman said that, police party from Tikri police post during routine checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02S-5844.
During checking, police recovered 15 milch animals and arrested the driver namely Mohd Arif, son of Abdul Gani of Chamalwas, Banihal.
A case under FIR number 198/12 under Section 188/RPC, 3 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station Rehmbal and investigation started.
In another incident, police party from Batote Police Station laid a naka at Patnitop and subjected one Srinagar bound Tata mobile bearing registration number JK19-1508 for checking, he said.
During checking, four bovine animals were recovered and driver namely Mohd Iqbal, son of Mohd Shafi of Maitra Ramban was arrested, he added.
A case under FIR number 149/12 under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation is in progress, he added.
Meanwhile, police party from Batote Police Station laid a naka at Baghu Nalla and intercepted a 407 vehicle (Jonga) bearing registration number JK14C-1618. On seeing, police party, the drive managed to flee from the spot, he said, adding, that during checking of the vehicle, police recovered five bovine animals.
A case under FIR number 150/ 12 has been registered at Police Station Batote and manhunt was launched to arrest the absconding smuggler.
