RAMBAN, May 12: Forest Department has retrieved 25 kanals of encroached land at village Tanger in Forest Division Batote.
As per reports, as part of eviction drive launched by J&K Forest Department, a team from Forest Division Batote led by Range Officer Gandhari Rafiq choudhary retrieved encroached forest land measuring 25 kanals from illegal possession of a person identified as Sham Lal, son of Haria of village Tanger, District Ramban.
The encroached forest land falling under Compartment Number 72/G of Kothi Tanger Reserve Forest was encroached 40 years back and thereafter improved by encroacher in form of agriculture field and an olive orchard by resorting to illegal land breaking and manipulating revenue record.
Forest officials successfully retrieved the precious coniferous forest land and fenced it along the demarcation line despite facing the stiff resistance from encroachers.
The entire operation was accomplished under the direct supervision of DFO Batote Kuldeep Singh and Conservator Forest Chenab Circle Sat Pal.
