2,500 pension cases cleared, 4850 still pending in Srinagar: Sakina

SRINAGAR, Oct 4:  Against 7,350 pending pension cases in Srinagar district under ISSS, 2,500 cases have been sanctioned reducing the figure to 4,850.
About 50 per cent funds for this purpose have already been released, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo informed the Legislative Assembly here today.
Replying to a question by Peer Afaq Ahmad, she informed that there are 9,300 cases pending as on date under IGNOAPS, ISSS and NFBS in Srinagar district out of which 3,200 cases are under IGNOAPS, 4,850 cases under ISSS and 1,250 cases under NFBS.
She said regarding clearance of pending cases under IGNOAPS and NFBS the matter has been taken up with the Centre.
In reply to the supplementaries by Bimla Luthra, Irfan Ahmad Shah, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Jugal Kishore and Yashpal Kundal, the Minister said due to concerted efforts of the Government out of one lakh pending pension cases under different schemes 50 per cent cases have been cleared during the last over four years in the State and matter for clearance of remaining cases has been taken up with the Centre for release of funds.
She said there is no discrimination in the clearance of pendency cases under NFBS or other schemes to any constituency adding that the cases are being cleared as per the demand.
