252 bovine animals rescued, 26 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 1: Foiling 29 attempts of bovine smuggling across Udhampur district, Police have rescued 252 bovines and arrested 26 smugglers in the last few days.
Acting on the specific inputs of transportation of bovine animals, these smuggling bids were foiled under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur, Police Station Majalta, Police Station Chenani, Police Station Ramnagar, Police Station Rehambal and Police Station Basantgarh.
14 vehicles transporting bovines were intercepted while some groups of bovine smugglers were taking the animals by foot towards Srinagar. After checking/enquiring of the vehicles and bovine smugglers, it was found that 252 bovine animals were being transported to valley in contravention of permission of competent authority.
In this regards, 14 bovine smuggling cases were registered in Police Station Udhampur, two in Police Station Majalta, five in Police Station Chenani, four in Police Station Rehambal, three in Police Station Ramnagar and one in Police Station Basantgarh under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PC Act.
