JAMMU, June 1: Police claimed to have rescued 26 bovines from the clutches of smugglers in Nagrota Sub-Division.
A police official said that acting on specific tip off, the vigilant team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli swung into action and rescued 26 animals from a group of smugglers who were attempting to transport animals on foot towards Kashmir Valley.
On seeing the police, the smugglers fled the scene abandoning the animals, he said.
The police spokesperson added that a case FIR number 135/2024 under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation taken up to apprehend the smugglers.
