RAJOURI, Sept 25: The Police today seized twenty six auto rikshaws and some four wheelers plying in violation of their route permits and also imposed heavy fine on eight vehicles operators.
On the directions of SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas, a special team under the supervision of Addl SP Rajouri, Mohd Yousuf, headed by DySP HQ Rajouri Jaswant Singh along with SHO Rajouri, Insp Ajay Chib laid surprise nakas on different routes of the town.
During naka checking, main emphasis was laid on those passenger carrying auto- rikshaws which ply against their route permits and not on those routes which are mentioned in their route permits.
As many as 26 three wheelers/ auto rikshaws/ four wheelers were seized under law as all were found plying on these routes without the permit.
Sixteen vehicles were also challaned by police during special drive.
Rajouri police has also booked a driver of an auto- rikshaw for attempt to run over the cops during naka checking.
The driver of Autorikshaw No. JK11- 2793, tried to run over DySP HQ and his PSO when they signaled to stop. The PSO of DySP sustained minor injury when he jumped to save DySP’s life.
A case in FIR No. 419/2017 U/S 332, 336, 353 RPC has been registered in Police Station Rajouri in this connection. The vehicle has been seized. A manhunt has been launched by police to nab the accused driver who ran away from the spot.
