Srinagar, Jan 1: The police in Baramulla today announced that 265 cases under the NDPS Act were registered in the last year, with 75 wanted drug peddlers booked under the PIT NDPS Act and PSA.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Amod Ashok Nagpure, shared these details, stating that by the end of the year 2023, the police had filed 265 cases under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 382 drug peddlers.
“This includes 75 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA,” he said.
He mentioned that the dedicated team of officers demonstrated exceptional commitment and achieved significant milestones in enforcing the NDPS Act to eradicate the drug menace in the district.
The SSP also noted that the police made substantial seizures of contraband during the year, valued at crores in the black market.
“Additionally, properties of 7 drug peddlers worth Rs 3 crores, comprising three houses, three vehicles, and cash amounting to Rs.1.2 Crores, were attached during the year,” he said.
He mentioned that police in the district also destroyed a significant quantity of seized contraband substances worth Rs 33 crores Under Section 25A of NDPS Act from various cases of Police Stations across Baramulla District at Kashmir Health Care System IGC Lassipora Pulwama.
“Citizens of the district have shown utmost faith and satisfaction in the police’s action against drugs, expressing total support,” he said.
On the occasion, the police requested people of the district to come forward with information about drug peddlers in their areas, assuring them that their identification will be kept confidential.
