27 bovines rescued, 3 held for smuggling

KATHUA, Feb 19: Police today seized 27 bovine in three separate nakas laid here at different locations and arrested three bovine smugglers.
At Maggar Khad naka point, nine bovines were rescued from the truck bearing registration No 4386/JK02R, driven by Mohd Kalu, son of Fathey Mohd, residence of Tehsil Govindpur, District Ramban. The driver has been arrested and a case in this regard has been registered at concern police station.
At Hatli Morh, 12 bovine animals were rescued by the police on intercepting a truck bearing registration No JK02AE-4464, which was on way from Punjab to J&K. The driver of the truck managed to escape. Police has launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
In Hiranagar, police while on patrolling, rescued 6 bovines from the possession of two persons namely Gani, son of Hasam, residence of Gurha Sarkari, Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua and Shamu, son of Kassam Din, residence of Kunthal, Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua, who were smuggling them from here to Punjab on foot. A case in this regard has been registered at police station Hiranagar.
