272 bovine animals rescued, 15 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 10: Acting on the specific inputs, Udhampur Police foiled 15 attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 272 animals besides arresting 15 smugglers across the district.
These attempts were foiled by police parties of Police Station Udhampur, Police Station Majalta, Police Station Chenani, Police Station Rehambal and Police Station Panchari, which intercepted six vehicles and some groups of smugglers who were taking bovine animals by foot on their way from Udhampur towards Srinagar.
In this regards, three Bovine smuggling cases have been registered in Police Station Udhampur, one in Police Station Majalta, three in Police Station Chenani, 7 in Police Station Rehambal and one case in Police Station Panchari under Sections 188 IPC, 11 PC Act.
The rescue operations were made by police parties under the command of Inspector Raghubir Singh (SHO PS Udhampur), Inspector Pushpinder Singh (SHO PS Majalta), Inspector S D Singh (SHO PS Chenani), Inspector Rajesh Sharma (SHO PS Rehambal) and Inspector Rakesh Kumar (SHO PS Panchari) under the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
