JAMMU, Jan 12: The 279th birth anniversary of Swami Mirzakak popularly known as Kak Sahab was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety today.
In this connection a grand function was held at Swami JI’s Nagrota Asthapan and despite the biting cold and fog hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu participated in the celebrations.
On the occasion as usual a Maha Yagya was also solemnized which started yesterday evening with Kalash Pooja and culminated this afternoon with Puran Ahuti followed by serving of Prashad to devotees.
The Hawan was organised by Swami Mirzakak Trust Hangalgund/Nagrota led by Bushan Lal Hangloo and its general secretary, Avtar Krishan Panidita.
Besides Bhajan Kirtan, a Samohik Aarti (prayer) was also held which was led by Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsnag Ashram Muthi. It may be recalled that Swami Mirzakak was a mystic saint of medieval Kashmir who had maintained the Vakh Parampara of Kashmir. His Samadhi exists in his native village at Hangalgund in Anantnag district where thousands of devotes used to participate in his annual Jag prior to mass exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits.
Swami Ji with his spiritual power doomed the tyrant Afghan rulers in Kashmir mention of which has been made in one of his Vakhs.
