UDHAMPUR, Jan 3: Police foiled two attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 28 bovines besides arresting three smugglers at Tikri and Majalta, here today.
According to the police report, a team of Police Post Tikri intercepted a vehicle (Canter) bearing registration number HR63C-5664. During checking, 24 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle in a very cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
Driver of the vehicle, namely Sabnoor, son of Jamil, resident of House number 65, Nakur, Saharanpur Road, Khazoor, Heri, UP, was arrested on the spot while all the rescued bovines were shifted to a safer place.
In this regard a case FIR No. 02/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
Another Attempt to smuggle bovines was foiled by a team of Police Station Majalta while performing patrolling/vehicle checking duty at Battal, Dhar road. Four bovines were found laden in a vehicle (load carrier), bearing registration number JK06B-3913.
Police rescued the bovines and arrested driver of the vehicle, identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi of Ponda Dhar, Doda and his associate Mohd Shafi son of Ahamdu Attu of Shodan Dhar, Doda. In this regard, case FIR No. 02/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Majalta.
