28 bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

JAMMU, Dec 17: Nagrota Police under ‘Operation Kamdhenu’ rescued 28 bovine animals and arrested one smuggler.
As per police sources, based on specific inputs, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number JK03E-7262 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle which was chased by the alert cops on naka duty.
After some distance driver/smuggler abandoned the vehicle and ran away towards nearby forest area.
During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the truck which the smuggler(s) had tied very mercilessly.
Meanwhile, a team from Nagrota Police Station also foiled another attempt of bovine smuggling by rescuing 16 cattle from a truck bearing registration number JK02W-5275 and arresting one smuggler, who has been identified as Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Nazir Hussain of village Dhar Galoon, Tehsil Balakote District Poonch.
Cases under FIR Numbers 312/18 and 314/18 under sections 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by SI Daljeet Singh, ASI Sethi Ram, Constable Mohammad Shafi and SPO Akshay Kumar rescued the cattle and made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and DIG JKS Range/SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
