NEW DELHI: Twenty-eight military helicopter crashes have been reported in the country since 2010 and the main reasons behind such accidents are technical defect and human error.
The highest number of crashes were reported in 2010 at 12. While in 2011 and 2012, there was three crashes each, two helicopters crashed in 2013.
While there were four crashes in 2014, this year, up to November 30, there has been same number of crashes, data given by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in a written reply to Rajya Sabha showed.
He said that accident prevention programmes have been given an added thrust to identify risk prone, hazardous areas.
“Measures are taken to enhance aircrew awareness and cockpit resource management by use of simulators, changes in operational training programme, etc,” he said. (PTI)
