RAJOURI, Nov 24: In a late night operation, a team of Forest officials raided residential premises of a Forester of their own department and seized 280 wooden sleepers, including some huge unfinished logs.
Acting on specific information, a Forest Protection team led by Assistant Conservator Forest, Shweta Jandial, raided the residential premises of Forester Mohd Iqbal at Kandi Kotranka and recovered the illicit timber, which was hidden under fodder.
Even as the accused Forester, who is son of an influential PDP leader, attempted to oppose the raid, the Forest team went ahead with the operation, which continued for around three hours. The seizure includes finished sleepers and unfinished wooden logs of 50-70 feet length.
