2842 posts of Insps, SIs, others created for J&K, Ladakh UTs

JAMMU, May 18: The Government has given nod to the creation of 2842 posts in Police department to the rank of Inspectors, Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors and Head Constables and reduction of equal number of posts of Constables in various wings of the department.
Official sources told the Excelsior that out of the total posts created, the share of 72 posts of the same ranks, has been kept for the Union Territory of Ladakh including two districts of Kargil and Leh while remaining 2770 posts for Kashmir and Jammu Divisions of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, under Phase -III of the enhancement of strength at Non-gazetted level of J&K Police for the year 2020-2021.
Sources revealed that the Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh has given nod to the creation of these posts and launch of further exercise in near future, after getting clearance of the proposal from the Home department. It further said that in order to achieve the envisaged objective of optimum utility of the creation of posts vis-à-vis to remove the stagnation among the ranks at Non-gazetted level, the distribution of 2842-72 (Ladakh share), 2770 posts, in different ranks among the Zones/ Wings, in accordance with the recommendation of the Empowered Committee, is made accordingly on pro-rata basis, vis-à-vis sanctioned strength of Constables in the concerned Zones/ Wings.
The sources further revealed that, accordingly, 2770 posts of Constables from the Police Zones/ Wings ordered for corresponding reduction from the overall strength of the concerned Zones/ Wings are withdrawn and are surrendered from the overall strength of J&K Police.
The due share of 72 posts of Inspectors, SIs, ASIs and Head Constables, out of the total 2842 posts shall be made available to the UT of Ladakh Administration for further allotment among two districts / wings by reducing corresponding number of Constable posts from the over all sanctioned strength. The break up of the posts in Ladakh will be initiated by an expert committee under IGP UT of Ladakh after seeking advise from J&K Home Department, sources added.
While giving break up, the sources revealed that out of the total, 77 posts of Inspectors in Executive wing, 24 in Armed while 19 posts in other wings like Crime, Traffic, CID, Security and Railways have been created. For Sub Inspectors, 531 posts have been created in Executive Police, 165 in Armed and 133 in other wings of the Police deparment.
A total 535 posts of ASIs and 677 posts of Head Constables have been created in Executive wing, 167 posts of ASIs and 211 posts of Head Constables in Armed while 134 posts of ASIs and 169 posts of HCs in other wings like Crime, Traffic, CID, Security etc have been created. Over all, 1820 posts are meant for Executive wing, 567 Armed while 455 for other wings.
Giving break of the 2740 posts of Jammu and Kashmir UT, the sources revealed that Kashmir Zone (Exe Wg) has been allotted 43 posts of Inspectors, 286 posts of SIs, 287 of ASIs and 366 posts of Head Constables while Jammu Zone (Exe), 31 posts of Inspectors, 224 posts of SIs, 227 of ASIs whereas, 284 posts of Head Constables.
Total 567 posts including 24 of Inspector rank, 166 of SIs and 167 ASIs have been allotted to the Armed wing while 455 posts for other wings including Traffic, Crime, Security etc. Out of this figure, total 9 posts have been allotted to Crime wing, 78 to Traffic, 157 to Railways, 43 Security while 68 to CID wing of J&K Police.
