28th Sindhu Darshan Utsav celebrated in Kargil

KARGIL, June 22: For first time, the 28th Sindhu Darshan Utsav was celebrated in District Kargil today.
In this regard, a programme was organised by the district Administration Kargil in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Center, Patiala.
The programme was attended by various artists from across the country, including native artists from Kargil, who showcased various cultural dances.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse was the guest of honour.
In his address, the CEC welcomed all Sindhu Darshan yatris and expressed pride in being part of the event.
He emphasized the importance of being proud to be born in India, highlighting the country’s exemplary diversity in cultures and religions and its unity and remarked that Kargil is like a mini India, where different religious communities live together in love and peace.
Dr Akhoon also emphasized that Kargil, once known as a war zone, has transformed beyond that image.
He highlighted the district’s natural adventurous places, historical monuments, rafting sites, mountains, and trekking sites, expressing hope that these attractions would entertain tourists and urged all Sindhu Darshan yatris to be ambassadors of Kargil and spread the message to visit the district.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse welcomed all yatris and expressed his privilege in being associated with Sindhu Darshan Yatra for three years during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner in Leh district.
He also highlighted that Kargil district is rich in culture and scenic beauty, inviting visitors to explore different regions of the district.
