29 booked for violence at counting station in Khawas

RAJOURI, Dec 5: Twenty nine persons have been booked by Rajouri police in an incident of violence and stone pelting at a counting hall in Khawas area Police Station under Budhal in Rajouri district late last evening.
Panchayat elections in the area were held on Tuesday and counting process was going on smoothly when some confrontation erupted over counting of votes at a counting hall in Khawas area. Soon after this, some people resorted to violence and created law and order problem despite after repeated attempts by the officials present to pacify them.
These people then started stone pelting on the counting hall. As it was dark, police and para-military force personnel on duty maintained maximum restrain from using any kind of force.
However, late in the night at around 1130 hrs, four tear gas shells were fired by security men to disperse the mob and then with the assistance of some senior citizens of the area, Police team led by Addl SP Nowshera GL Sharma brought the situation under control and the polling staff and ballot boxes were given safe passage.
Meanwhile, a case in FIR 92/2018 under Sections 336, 147, 148, 435, 506, 34 RPC has been registered in Budhal Police Station and 29 persons have been booked for spreading violence and resorting to law and order problem.
They include- Mohammad Mushtaq, Master Mohammad Manzoor, Mohammad Shakeel, Ashfaq Ahmed, Mohammad Rafiq, Mohammad Sharif, Mohammad Aslam, Harbinder Singh, Joginder Singh, Chain Singh, Bittu Kumar, Mohammad Ashraf, Naresh Kumar, Kirpal Singh, Romesh Singh, Wali Mohammad, Tengu, Sukhdev Singh, all residents of Bhela Khawas and Rakesh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Ankush Singh, Mansa Ram and Baljeet Singh, all residents of Gadyog and Kabal Singh, Joginder Singh, Sher Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Rattan Singh and Shafqat Ali, all residents of Khawas. No one was reportedly injured in the incident.
