29 bovines rescued; 3 arrested

JAMMU, Apr 16: Jawahar Tunnel, Rehambal and Ghagwal police rescued twenty-nine bovine animals and arrested two persons.
As per police sources, a team from Jawahar Tunnel police post led by SI Gurpal Singh intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK14A-7775.
During checking, police rescued 5 bovine animals and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Mukhtiar Ahmed, son of Abdul Samad Khandey of Ladhwal Morh, Batote, district Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 40/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Rehambal police station laid a naka at Falata and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03E-2102. Police rescued, 15 bovine animals and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who has been identified as Naseer Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, a resident of Bijbehara, district Anantnag, Kashmir.
A case has been registered at Rehambal police station and investigation started.
In another incident, Ghagwal police rescued nine bovine animals and arrested a person, who has been identified as Irshad, son of Fareed, a resident of Mantalai.
A truck without registration number, which was used by the accused to smuggle the bovines was also seized.
A case under Section 33/16 has been registered at Ghagwal police station and investigation started.
