29th annual convention of LIAFI held

JAMMU, Nov 15: 29th annual convention of Life Insurance Agents Federation of India (LIAFI), Srinagar Division, was held today here wherein the problems and demands of agent community was discussed threadbare.
Agents from all the branches of Srinagar Division participated in the convention. The chief guest of the convention was Tota Ram Upadhaya, zonal secretary of LIAFI for north zone.
Day to day problems faced by the agent community and ways and means to strengthen branch associations and new challenges being faced by the agents due to the changes being made in Agents’ Rules, Insurance Act and Club Rules were discussed deliberately in the convention.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers said that LIC is a biggest insurer in the world and a biggest contributor and funds provider for the national development but it is sorry to say that the agents of LIC have not been given the due recognition and the respect they deserve.
“Benefit to the all sections of the employee has increased, salary bills and perks have increased from Rs 6000 crores to Rs 16000 crores but the bonus rates and final additional bonus for policy holders has decreased over the years and commission of the agents has remained static or decreased, and they still have to fight for their rights”, they added.
The speakers reiterated the demands of agent community which include attractive bonus for policy holders, improved services for policy holders and agents, welfare and provident fund for agents, more monitory benefits for Clias, Direct and Career agents, enhancement of gratuity, terminal benefits for agents who are permanently disabled or incapacitated in any form to procure new business and productivity linked incentives for number of policies and new business.
Meanwhile, Narinder Kumar Sharma was re-elected as Divisional president and Bodh Raj Sharma as Divisional secretary for the next tenure. Girdhari Lal Sharma was appointed as zonal council member by the Divisional council general house.
