SRINAGAR, Aug 16: 340 mtr span second track of Hyderpora flyover, constructed at a cost of Rs. 33.84 crore, was thrown open for public by the Minister of State for R&B, Javed Ahmad Dar in presence of Minister of State for Home and Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani today.
Besides Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, senior engineers of R&B, representatives of Valecha Engineering Ltd, Mumbai and Multi Tech Engineering Srinagar and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
Flyover is a part of Rs 212 crore 17.80 km Athwajan-Parimpora section of 4 lane Srinagar bypass project which is scheduled to be completed by October this year.
The project comprises 17.80 km road length, four major brides at Lasjan, Padshahibagh, Chanpora, Tengpora and one flyover at Hyderpora intersection. Ninty Eight percent work of the project has been completed at an accumulated cost of Rs. 203.17 crore. The contract of the project was given to Valecha Engineering Ltd Mumbai and completed by Multi Tech Engineering, a local firm headed by Farooq Mir Lasjan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Javed said that 9000 km road length would be macadamized during this fiscal while Rs. 57 crore have been earmarked for macadamization of Srinagar city roads. He said Government has framed big plans for improving basic amenities of the people, adding all district and interior roads would be macadamized during this fiscal. He said two grade separators are proposed to be constructed at Shaltang and Soura to ease traffic pressure at these spots.
Castigating opposition parties for running negative campaign against the coalition formation, Mr Javed said that people are best judges and know to differentiate between right and wrong.
Nasir Aslam Wani, while speaking on the occasion, said that peace is imperative for development. He said executing agency succeeded in completing the job with cooperation of the people and peace prevailed during past two years. He said Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is keen to make the State a Model State, adding that the tempo of development works has been accelerated because of peace.
