3.37 lakh yatris perform darshan in 34 days

JAMMU, Aug 1: On 34th day of annual 55 days long pilgrimage to holy cave shrine of Baba Amarnath ji in South Kashmir Himalayas of Anantnag district today, 2086 pilgrims performed darshan taking total number of yatris paying obeisance to Lord Shiva to 3.37 lakh.
Official sources said during past three days, number of the yatris performing darshan at Amarnath ji shrine has been hovering around 2000.
The yatra was, however, progressing smoothly. The weather was also fine, they added.
Meanwhile, a batch of 209 devotees today left the Jammu base camp for the cave shrine of Amarnath ji.
A convoy of seven vehicles, carrying the 35th batch, left the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar at around 4.45 am to pay obeisance at the cave shrine in the Kashmir Valley, sources said.
The batch including 158 men and 51 women reached twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in the Valley late tonight, they added.
With today’s batch, a total of 50,286 pilgrims have left the Jammu base camp for Amarnath ji so far in the official convoys from Bhagwati Nagar.
Majority of pilgrims of Shri Amarnath ji were proceedings directly to Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camps instead of becoming the part of official convoy at Bhagwati Nagar.
